About Us

The Art House “Tantana” started its creative activity in wonderful Ferghana Valley rising to snowcapped peaks of Tyan Shan Mountains all around it. This lush green valley is situated in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Central Asia. Herodotus had named Ferghana as “The Pearl Valley”, “The Possessors of Heavenly Horses”, “A Residence of Fairies” in his books. Alexander the Great had stayed there before his expedition to India. The Great Silk Road stretched through this valley. It was a centre of trade in one line with big cities like Chiva, Bukhara and Samarkand.  European traders met with the traders from the East Asia here, they had trade relations and kept connections with each other. The favorite goods of Western traders was the silk. The silk combined with cotton was transformed into the dainty fabric that was named “Adras”. In Europe this fabric became renown under the Malay-Indonesian word “Ikat”.

Now, there is a little town named Margilan in Ferghana Valley. From ancient times this town has been recognized as a centre of weaving Ikat.  The ancient traditions and the weaving methods of Ikat have been exploring and reviving in our days by masters of Margilan.

We are offering clothes that have been sewn from the various kinds of Ikat. Tantana Collection is the clothes for the persons who want to be outstanding and like always to be in a centre of people’s attention. Contemporary styles of European and Asian wearing have been mirrored in our clothes. You can feel exclusive taste and multicolored traditions of Central Asian people when you will wear them.
